Holden's first night alone in a regular bed was during our recent trip to Vail, and it was quite hilarious. It started out fine, we brought a mattress from one of the bunk beds into the master bedroom near us, and put it on the floor. Anthony & Holden read books like they do at home and then he fell asleep...
About 3:00 am we woke up and looked over, the bed was empty. Talk about panic. As I peered further over the bed though, this is what I saw...
It still cracks me up to see just those little legs sticking out from under the bed! I had to pull him out and lay him back on the bed, only to find him under it again later.
Night two was not much different...
The kid could just not stay on the bed...obviously some rails were needed before we put him in his new...very high...big boy bed at home!
Back at home, here is night one in the actual new bed...full of his friends and his new Lightning McQueen sheets, which he loves! Of course, he doesn't want to go under the covers, just lay on top like he did in his crib. And the next morning, he was SO excited to be able to get out of bed and call for Mommy...
Only one night out of the last 3 weeks that Holden has been in his big boy bed has he stayed up and played in it not wanting to go to sleep. From our room I could hear a lot of babbling to his "friends" in bed (his Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pooh, Tigger, puppy, and Clifford stuffed animals) and some "Zoom Zoom" with this Thomas the Train. After all of that, this is how we found him...
After getting him all moved, he sure looked cozy...
(The little red spot on his cheek was another bout of impetigo, poor kid)
Overall, he loves his new bed and doesn't miss his crib at all...next on the list, time to lose the paci. That won't be quite as easy a transition but it's definitely time to make it happen!
**Note to future self...all pictures taken from camera phones because you can't find your camera battery...these pictures are terrible!
